Arabian cranes

A couple of weeks ago my dad went to work at a building site in Saudi Arabia. He took these photos and I thought I would share them because they are interesting.

V&A Illustration Awards

I am very happy to have been awarded Student Runner Up in the V&A Illustration Awards 2011. My 'Bacteria' series of etchings is on display at the V&A Museum until December, alongside works by Mike Redmond, Laura Carlin and Olivier Kugler. So exciting!

Filming the piano bird

Photos from the filming on Friday. The piano works its magic on the pianist, with the assistance of two black beaked minions. Phoebe and I - partners in multicoloured novelty crime - are in different parts of the country for a while so we'll edit and put it together later in summer. Despite wind, rain, five zealous security guards and a dog we had a great day making this. Thank you VERY much to my brilliant brother James for playing the piano so well and not once complaining about the costume.

Drawing city people

It's been a while since I've posted drawings, but I have been doing quite a few. These were done through a cafe window watching business people scurrying about/smoking. I was waiting for my piano paint to dry.

Canary wharf piano

Here is the piano that Phoebe Halstead and I painted together. It is in Jubilee Park, next to Canary Wharf tube. Tessellating birds! (Our pianos are bird heavy because the festival theme was birds). We got to go to a real live piano warehouse to paint it last week, with Steinways stacked up in cardboard boxes. And on the way back I found a spoon that had been run over so it is pancake flat and no longer any use as a spoon, and we had a full English breakfast at a greasy spoon (no relation).
