Shortlisted for V and A Illustration Awards!

Yaaaaay a little birdie told me that I have been shortlisted for the V and A Student Illustrator Award! It must be my advanced skills in the application of googly eyes and pipe cleaners. Watch this space....

Here is the press release for the Illustration Awards, it is beyond exciting to be in such company!

This particular little birdie is one of a flock I am making for an installation at Ejector Seat Arts Festival, in Southampton this Saturday.

Berger balloon birthday

Happy birthday Phoebe! Phoebe is now 21 and to mark the occasion we went to see John Berger and played with these incredible light up balloons. Highly illuminating!

More fashion for Amelia's Magazine

Yippee, fun to draw - the Paulina Plizga show at AW11 Polish Fashion Week. I like it when fashion goes a bit crazed. Illustrations for Amelia's Magazine - see the article in full here:

Neighbourly gods

Out of my window I spied this spectre rising from the chimney of my neighbour.

I am fond of analogue special effects.

Birthday blanket

Mum

Dad

Granddad

Grandma

Auntie Alison

James

My family made me this BEAUTIFUL blanket for my 21st birthday. My mum, who masterminded the operation, learnt to crochet for it - as did my brother, my dad, and my grandad. My grandma and aunt, dab hands with a crochet hook, taught them. I can hardly believe it, but they have all been secretly crocheting squares since Christmas. Such an amazing thing, THANK YOU and much love to you all.

Polish Fashion Week

I did this illustration for the Amelia's Magazine website. This image of Domi Grzybek's collection is for one of Amelia's frank and interesting reviews of Polish Fashion Week: well worth a read. Amelia Gregory champions fashion illustration and ethical fashion, both promoted in her new book Amelia's Compendium of Fashion Illustration. What a good combination.

Queen of the Fishes

As part of an ongoing project, Joseph Egan sent Phoebe and I this perspex queen to visually respond to. We had a really fun day making this 'Queen of the Fishes' tableau in the back garden. Then we photographed it in the middle of the night using a camera remote hidden under our regal cloak. We love DIY costume fun!
